My name is Calin Scott, Resistance Leader. I am writing this blog so that in the event of my death, those of you that find these writings will carry my work and continue to fight back against the Protectorate and all they stand for.
Let’s start at the beginning. A little over four years ago, a group of men and women, calling themselves the Protectorate, struck a deal with our President, Sam Turner, to become the United States Homeland Security Force. Their promise, to defend the United States against enemies, foreign and domestic, stop the spread of terrorism and to propel the United States years into the technological future.
Who were they? Who they were turned out to be a group of super-powered criminals led by a man, if you can call him that, known as Purge. Each one possessed incredible powers and each one had a rap sheet a mile long. I will be profiling them individually for you, so that you have a solid background on each of them and what they can do. I’ll get to that later. So to continue…
My sources in the administration tell me that President Turner had no choice to go along with the Protectorate’s demands; they had his wife and daughter hostage, threatened to kill him and to start annihilating the rest of the country. From what I understand, they had the power to do it. One of the Protectorate scum, a goth-chick known as Defiler, took out the President’s entire security force with just a single word. I’ve never seen what she can do first hand, but I don’t ever want to cross paths with her. So Turner, did the only thing he could, he gave in.
In the beginning, the Protectorate actually did help. They stopped numerous terror attacks on our soil. They provided advanced medical technology, which all but destroyed the healthcare debates going on at the time. Essentially the American people were hooked. Everyone loved them. Well, almost everyone. There were those of us, Military and Non-Military that knew the truth and worked underground against them.
Purge, their leader, was as smart as he was cunning. He worked out a deal with the private security firms and they became the Protectorate’s personal army; the Protectorate Security Agents. This was bad. The private security firms were made up of mostly mercs and they had no allegiance to the United States. But who could stop them. They had the administration’s stamp of approval and the Protectorate Elite, Purge’s original force, to lead them.
It was when the administration dismantled the military that things got really bad. I was a Captain at the time and was blown away by the decision. I heard that some officers tried to argue with the decision but they were quickly made examples of what happens to those that oppose the administration. For all intents and purposes, the Protectorate established nearly total control of the government and defense.
Don’t get me wrong, there were other super-powered individuals that stood against them…tried to fight back against their expansion. They won a few skirmishes, but they couldn’t overcome the combined might of the Protectorate Elite. They were a nasty bunch . Eventually, the PSF and the Elite imprisoned every known superhero in the United States. From what I heard, these prisons were nothing more than super advanced concentration camps, where they tortured and murdered hundreds of heroes.
Then we found out about the children. It seemed that their tech guy, Interact, figured out a way to tap into children of power and transfer their abilities, be them latent or not, into another host. The Protectorate was creating their own super-powered army. From what I understood, they killed hundreds, no thousands of children running these experiments.
I was sick. Sick to my stomach. I had to do something. So after two years of watching things unravel, I, and a few of those dedicated to the American Dream, banded together and formed a Resistance. There were only a few of us in the beginning. Ragtag groups of men and women taking potshots at a well equipped and super powered enemy. We didn’t stand a chance. eventually we just realized the best thing we could do was to hide…stay alive. Don’t get me wrong, we hit them when we could. Most of the time it was to keep them from kidnapping more children. If we couldn’t stop them, at least we could put a kink in the hose…so to speak.
So that’s where we are today. Right now, I have a team of my best agents picking up a group of kids hiding downtown. My sister, Sara Scott is leading the team and I sent my mentor, Carl Hunter to help her. He’s a tough old codger and he will watch out for my kid sister on her first mission.
Since they are gone, and I’m here alone, I thought it time to document everything I could on our enemy and their plans. So stand by for more information on the last four years of history, background on the Protectorate, dossiers on their Elite squads, and anything else I can think of. I know damn sure, you’re going to need it.
